Contending that Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar has set a wrong precedent, Congress MLA Aleixo Reginaldo Lourenco said the chief minister has no moral right to tell his sick colleagues that their charge will be withdrawn and handed over to someone else.
“If we go on sick leave, we hand over our charge to someone else. If a sarpanch is not well then the charge is given to the deputy. Parrikar has set a wrong precedent. I don’t think Parrikar has any moral right to say (to his colleagues) that I will give your charge to someone else,” Reginald said.
The Congress MLA from Curtorim was speaking to media persons at the side lines after a press event in Mapusa.
He said the administration had collapsed in the State and there was absolutely no control of the government on the administration.
“If the father is not proper, what will the children do? If the CM is not there what will the government employees do? They will not care. They will take advantage of the situation and this is what has happened in Goa,” Reginaldo said.
“If the administration should run properly, the minister should be there. Some responsible person should be there to ask the administration why there is power failure,” the Curtorim MLA argued.
Pointing to the recent incident of the problem faced by Goa Dairy farmers, the Congress MLA said the managing director of the cooperative body was unable to resolve the issue.
“The farmers had gone to the CM in the past and he had assured them to find a way out. Today, he is not there. Who will the farmers approach now,” he asked.
He said in absence of the CM and his failure to hand over the charge to someone else has cost the State dearly.
“It is a serious lapse on the part of BJP. They have shown their bankruptcy. They have shown that they are unfit to rule,” Reginaldo hit out.
He said the Congress was taking up all issues and will do everything possible to expose the misdeeds of the BJP before the Goan public.
BJP’s offside goal probably hurting
them, says Reginaldo
MAPUSA: Offering a football analogy, Congress MLA Aleixo Reginaldo Lourenco said BJP’s offside shot to power in Goa was haunting them and the karma was paying off.
“The way things are going on, the chart does not look good. It appears this government has got stuck. I think the karma is taking over. They are facing the music for scoring an offside goal,” Reginaldo said.
He said running an administration required a person who has to be at the back and call, which was not there.
“There is serious lapse on the part of the BJP, which calls itself a party with difference,” he countered.
