Stating that Khola is being developed on various fronts, Opposition Leader and Quepem MLA Chandrakant Kavlekar has said the village will soon get water supply from the Salaulim Dam on completion of ongoing pipeline works.
He was addressing a special gram sabha on Wednesday, which also included a drawing competition organised by the Khola Panchayat for school students on ‘Beat Plastic pollution” to mark Environmental Day in coordination with Directorate of Panchayats.
Kavlekar, a special invitee to the gram sabha, complimented the Khola panchayat for its initiatives to eradicate plastic pollution.
“Khola village is being developed on various fronts and shortly, the village will get water supply from the Salaulim Dam on completion of the ongoing pipeline works,” said Kavlekar.
Kavlekar appealed for cooperation from residents to eradicate plastic pollution and also requested them to support the panchayat in keeping the village free from plastic waste.

Earlier in her welcome address, Sarpanch Purna Nayak spoke about the panchayat’s plans to make Khola a plastic-free village
Present on the occasion included Shanu Velip (Khola ZP), Bhagwant Karmali (Canacona BDO), Pandhari Desai (Dy Sarpanch), Panchas Guru Gaunkar, Fondu Velip, Guru Velip and Cynthiya Fernandes and Panchayat Secretary Damu Kankonkar.
Prizes were distributed to the winners of the drawing contest, while the three top SSC students who were felicitated by Kavelekar were Divya Deykar (86%), Deepa Dharmu Velip (83%) and Diksha Bhisso Velip (76%).
Headmistress Ranjita Gounkar of the Gurukul High School Kajumol was honoured as the school secured 100% pass results for the second successive year.
