OLD GOA
Brushing aside the challenge of Cumbarjua Congress block president Vishal Volvoikar’s threat of withdrawing his ZP candidature is the project is scrapped, Siddesh Naik said it is only an excuse to avoid embarrassment.
Naik further blamed Volvoikar for his failure as Old Goa sarpanch to challenge the Director of Panchayats (DoP) order to issue NOC for compound wall to CCP.
“The DoP issued directions on January 21, 2013 that NOC be issued for the compound wall for the Bainguinim plant but the sarpanch did not challenge the directives in the higher court. It was only when CCP filed a writ petition in the HC that the NOC had to be issued on December 20, 2013,” Naik informed.
“Why didn’t the sarpanch challenge the DoP directives in the higher court in the 11-months period? He should explain this to the people. If a stay had been obtained that time, then we would have been successful in blocking the Bainguinim plant,” Naik added.
