‘Goencho Avaz will be AAP’s natural ally if it jumps into electoral politics’

MARGAO

The Aam Aadmi Party has said that Goencho Avaz will be the party’s natural ally if at all the NGO decides to take a plunge in Goa’s electoral politics. Commenting on news reports that Goencho Avaz may take a political plunge, AAP State convenor Elvis Gomes welcomed the decision, reminding that the party volunteers had been backing Goencho Avaz in all the people’s struggles witnessed in the state in recent times. “Both Goencho Avaz and AAP had been taking up the causes of the people of Goa. Both have been working for the implementation of the 73rd and 74th Constitutional Amendments. Goencho Avaz is our natural ally since the NGO had been fighting both against the Congress and the BJP,” he said. AAP leader Edwin Mascarenhas said that the NGO had many AAP volunteers as its active supporters and though the decision taken was unilateral without taking many of them into confidence, adding “yet without making any issue, AAP was welcoming it. “Many of us had worked hard under the Goencho Avaz banner to raise consciousness of Goans about the rapid deterioration of everything that is Goan. But this sudden decision to change course though surprising is welcome. The NGO can only be a natural ally of AAP given its strong stance against the BJP, Congress and their allies from time to time,” he said.

He went on to add that Goencho Avaz had limitations and despite raising so many issues, section 16B was a sore wound inflicted on Goa by the cruel regime of Parrikar and needed to be fought for the sake of the future.
