‘Have all valid licenses for structure at Old Goa’

OLD GOA

Even as protests are being organised against a structure that has come up within the protected area of the world heritage monuments at Old Goa, one of the co-owners Suraj Lotlikar has said they have all valid licenses for the construction of the residential house.

When contacted by The Goan for reaction to the protests, Lotlikar said all valid permissions have been obtained from authorities concerned, which are available for inspection with the Se Old Goa panchayat.

“All permissions have been submitted to the panchayat and any person, including the protestors, should inspect the same before conducting protests,” Lotlikar informed.

“A committee had also approached the High Court regarding the matter and the same was ruled in our favour,” he added.

When questioned whether the protests are political in nature, Lotlikar said, “I would not like to comment on that.”

Meanwhile, the Goa Pradesh Congress Committee led by its president Girish Chodankar along with several other functionaries protested at Old Goa on Friday, against the construction of the structure in the protected zone of the world heritage site.

The speakers alleged that the licenses were issued through manipulation and fraud. Congress has also said that its legal cell would take legal recourse regarding the issue.
