VASCO
Vasco BJP Mandal on Wednesday lashed out at MPDA chairperson Krishna (Daji) Salkar for stating he was trying for a BJP ticket to contest the upcoming assembly elections from the Vasco constituency.
Addressing a news conference in Vasco, MMC Vice-Chairperson Shraddha Mahale said that Salkar was like a mushroom cropping up during monsoons and would claim a BJP ticket on the eve of assembly elections.
"Salkar habitually campaigns in the name of BJP, including the previous assembly elections where he was campaigning using the name of late Manohar Paarikar,” said Mahale.
“The fact remains that Salkar has no connection in the party and is not even a member of the BJP. Salkar had severed all ties and left the party in 2017, after which he worked against the party by contesting as an independent candidate.”
“Salkar must remember that the BJP is a cadre-based party and built on a strong base of Karyakartas and has no place for people working against the party.”
“Salkar must develop his own ward before claiming a ticket for Vasco because while he has ignored his ward, we at the MMC have been proposing development works in his ward,” Mahale added.
Councillor Yatin Kamurlekar claimed that Salkar’s office was closed for the people while Vasco was struggling amid the Covid pandemic.
"It was Vasco MLA Carlos Almeida who organised hearse vans for Covid victims at his own cost. Almeida successfully got nine councillors elected with more than 50 per cent vote share and some of which were from different wards and this is the capability of a true leader," said Kamurlekar.
