Rushed to Hospicio with bruises on legs, hands

Umesh Naik along with 14 pilgrims from Curchorem-Sanvordem had gone for the pilgrimage to Vaishnudevi, before he went missing at the base camp. Speaking to The Goan from the hospital bed, Umesh pointed out that he was somehow left behind while the remaining 14 members of the group went ahead to the shrine.
"I made frantic efforts to locate them, but in vain. I never reached Vaishnudevi since my visiting pass cum identity card was with other members of the group. I had not chance of going to the shrine for want of a pass," he recalled.
Umesh could not explain how he got the bruises all over his legs and hands, but recalled that he was holed up at the base camp for two days, before the local police helped him to reach Jammu. "Since I was left alone, I went to the local police station and explained my problem. The police were kind enough to provide me food. The policemen gave me Rs 200 and put me in a bus heading to Jammu," he said.
Umesh pointed out that he had no clothes with him when he reached Jammu, other then a T-shirt and a pant he was wearing. "Seeing my plight, someone offered me a blanket and a towel. I moved around with the hope that I will board a train to Delhi so that I can reach Goa at the earliest," Umesh said as he claimed to have boarded the Howrah train.
Umesh reached the Sanvordem railway station on Wednesday evening and contacted his relative at the bus stand to drop him home. "I could not walk, but I managed to contact my relative, a motorcycle pilot, who was taken by surprise over my state," he said, adding "I feel totally exhaustive. I cannot stand on my legs".
Sources at the Hospicio hospital told The Goan that Umesh is weak and will be shifted to the Goa Medical college and Hospital, Bambolim as he required further medical attention. "He appears totally weak and exhaustive. He is in need of medical attention", he said.
Personnel of the Curchorem police, who came to the hospital to record the statement of Umesh, had to return back home since he was not in a position to talk properly.
