Another mining major Fomento Resources when asked about its stand on the mining truckers issue said: “Currently, Fomento is not negotiating any truck rates with its long standing truck owners at any of its locations.”
“Nevertheless,” said the Managing Director of Fomento Resources, “it is very clear, based on a number of reasons, that Fomento will not be in position to pay the rates being demanded and which are appearing in the Press based on the negotiations between Sesa Goa, Government and Truck Owners Associations as it is incomprehensible that at the present truck rates being shown in the Press business can be conducted.”
