Vasco Traffic Cell PI Shailesh Narvekar said the traffic police has already written to the PWD for remedial measures on top priority at the accident-prone zone in Dabolim.
He was responding to demands for rumblers and a crash barrier at the site after four persons had a lucky escape when a speeding car fell into a gorge at Dabolim on Tuesday evening.
“The traffic police had already written to the PWD for remedial measures on top priority during the previous accident on July 29, but nothing has been done since then,” said PI Narvekar.
"We had visited the site and realised that the road splits into 4 lanes with parallel culverts with bushes and shrubs along the road shoulders with tree branches even inclining on the road.”
“We had required the PWD that high impact crash barriers with suitable height be installed immediately and install reflector marks along the edge of the road to increase the visibility of the road and install compulsory left signages.”
“We had also asked for immediate pruning of tree branches along the road and installation of reflective signages of "compulsory keep left" signages and cautionary signboard of "side road left.” he added.
