OLD GOA : Stating that the Chief Vigilance Committee (CVC) of the electricity department has been asked to submit report on broken or unused poles, Power Minister Nilesh Cabral informed that the staff responsible for the same will be held accountable. Speaking to the media on the sidelines of a function to inaugurate transformers at Santa Cruz, Cabral said it is the duty of department staff like JE, AE to remove electricity poles which are broken or unused. “There are complaints that poles have fallen down, electricity stuff is lying around,” Cabral said.
“I have ordered the CVC of electricity department to inquire into all these things and submit a report on the same, so that further action can be taken. I have also told every executive engineer that they are equally responsible to get the work done,” he stated. “Secondly, I want to tell the people that my department has got service wires and meters, be it single or three phase, for a new connection. If any power staff tells the people to buy service wires or meters from outside, please inform me,” he said.
