The Dy Sarpanch of VP Cortalim Raymond Desa on Thursday shot back at Former Sarpanch Senia Pereira and slammed her for saying that he was maligning her image. Desa along with panch members addressed the media and made allegations against Pereira that she had been into several illegalities.

Desa said that he had also lodged a complain in Anti-Corruption Bureau to probe Pereira’s alleged purchase of an expensive apartment and a car in a short span of time. He threatened to move court if an inquiry against Pereira was not conducted.

The Dy Sarpanch highlighted the issue of Pereira, during her tenure, clearing bills of a garbage contractor without placing them before the panchayat. “We did have a resolution for fortnightly clearance of bills (of the garbage contractor) but it is no where said that the bills can be cleared without placing it before the Panchayat. Now, we are also clearing bills, but, only after putting it up for a meeting.”

“There have been many allegations of corruption against her. I have already filed a complain against her with the ACB and an inquiry will start soon. If there is no inquiry conducted on her due to political pressure then I will go to the courts. I have submitted proofs of her signing work orders for garbage collection which is illegal and only the secretary can sign. She has not maintained the muster rolls. There are no signatures of Sarpanch during payment of bills to garbage collectors. Huge bills have been cleared without putting for a meeting and that too in a span of two days from submission of

bills,” Desa added.

Election for post of Sarpanch delayed due to political pressure: Desa

VASCO: Dy Sarpanch Raymond Desa said that it was first time in the history of Cortalim Panchayat that due to political interference, the elections for the post of Sarpanch had to be postponed. He further alleged that it maybe further delayed due to political interference.
“The elections were scheduled for October 8 but some politician interfered and the BDO went on sick leave cancelling our election. Elections are to be conducted within 60 days of no confidence motion being passed. We have crossed over 80 days since. I am just quiet due to the respect for our MLA. We could have easily gone to the courts and got the order because two Panchayats of Sancoale and Colva have got orders to conduct election. I have kept quiet due out of respect for the current government. I have a doubt that elections maybe delayed again,” said Desa.
