‘Will take up tenanted land issue with CM’

Public meet at Panaji on Sept 30, says panel chief

PERNEM
Stating the report of the deputy collector and investigating officer Agnel Fernandes on Tiracol tenanted land is one-sided, St Anthony Tenants and Mundkars Association president Francis Rodrigues said they will take up the issue with Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar and will organise a public meeting at Panaji on September 30.
He was addressing the villagers during a public meeting organised at Martyr's Memorial, Tiracol, on Sunday.
"We will take up the issue with Chief Minister Parrikar and will organise a public meeting at Panaji on September 30," said Rodrigues.
Speaking at the meeting, Fr Savio Fernandes alleged that the government dumped the Sandeep Jacques' report in the dustbin for its benefit. "The report prepared by Deputy Collector Agnel Fernandes is one-sided and a threat," he added.
"This report will not have any impact on Tiracol villagers. People should be united and the truth will achieve victory," stated Fr Fernandes.
In his speech, Fr Maverick Fernandes stated that the government is silent on the issue and people should make the government speak. "People should teach a lesson to those who are trying to ruin the village for the benefit of the hoteliers," he added.
"Let's show our strength by participating in a public meeting at Panaji in large number," he added.
