1 duped in ONGC job offer scam

MARGAO: Beware, an alleged job racket promising positions at ONGC, Betul, which recently hosted the India Energy Week, may lead you into trouble.

A woman from Navelim discovered the harsh reality after responding to an advertisement in a local English daily offering jobs at ONGC, Betul.

On Friday, the victim lodged a complaint with the Superintendent of Police, South Goa, requesting an investigation into the fraud. She recounted how she was enticed by the advertisement and applied for a Data Entry Operator position on 26th February 2024. Subsequently, she was instructed to make payments at various stages.

Despite receiving a job confirmation letter and a joining letter, along with a promising monthly salary of Rs 42,500, the victim grew suspicious as the fraudster demanded more money. She reached out to Congress leader Savio Coutinho for verification, who confirmed that the recruitment process was indeed fraudulent.
