1 killed in road mishap on NH66 at Guirim

A 38-year-old Porvorim resident died in a road accident after a goods trailer dashed his scooter knocking him down and injuring him seriously along the NH-66 near Guirim on Wednesday afternoon.

The deceased Allauddin Mankatti was shifted to the North Goa District Hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries while undergoing treatment.

According to Mapusa Police, the mishap happened at around 1 noon.

The goods carrier trailer was proceeding from Panaji to Colvale while the deceased was also proceeding to Colvale.

According to police, after crossing Hotel Green Park at Guirim, the driver of the trailer who was driving in a rash and negligent manner dashed the scooter which was being ridden by the deceased, knocking him down and causing serious bodily injuries to him.

He later succumbed to his injuries while undergoing treatment in Asilo, Mapusa.

Mapusa Police has booked the accused driver of the trailer, Netaji Gaikwad of Maharashtra under Section 279 (rash driving) and 304A (causing death by negligence) of IPC. Mapusa Police is investigating further.
