12 dengue cases in Bicholim town

BICHOLIM
Twelve dengue cases have been detected in Bicholim town, prompting Bicholim Community Health Centre (CHC) officials to initiate measures to tackle the spread of the disease.

Bicholim MLA Dr Chandrakant Shetye on Wednesday visited the CHC and took stock of the situation from Bicholim CHC Health Officer Dr Medha Salkar. It is believed that some patients had got infected after going to other areas in the State.

Later speaking to reporters, Dr Shetye said precautionary measures like proper drainage of accumulated water, monitoring of mosquito breeding sites and fumigation were discussed and various measures have been taken.

He also informed that additional dengue test kits would be made available.

Dr Medha Salkar said the Bicholim Municipal Council and CHC teams are conducting inspections at various places, while fumigation and awareness drives are being conducted in the affected areas.
