Resurgent Rodrigues Youth edged past TP Boys by 2-1 to storm into the semi-finals of the II Santan and Silvio Mendes Memorial Soccer, organised by Santa Cruz Club Of Cavelossim, at Fr Druston and Wellington ground, Cavelossim.
Rodrigues Youth dominated their proceedings in the first half and in the 15th minute a power packed grounder by Blayne Rodrigues from the left flank beat the defence of TP boys and entered the nylons to give his side the lead.
In the 20th minute, TP Boys keeper went forward to clear a ball but failed and the rebound fell at feet of Dannon Mendes who shot into the empty goal of TP boys to make the score 2-0.
In the second half with heavy showers the ground condition did not favour the players of both the sides with the ball confined to the mid field.
TP boys captain Raju Cardozo got hold of a wayward pass from Mafildo and took a bullet like shot from 30 yards to reduce their margin for TP boys. Blayne and Brice played well upfront with Johan and Meavan marshalling the defence.
Rodrigues Youth will now clash with BDG in the semis on Friday.
