DMC Assagao, AITD register huge wins; PCCE, DBCE prevail

Nicolas D'Costa netted a hat-trick for DM College, Assagao.

D.M's College and Research Centre, Assagao thrashed Mandre College, Mandre 8-0 in the Goa University inter-collegiate football championship at Goa University ground, Taleigao on Wednesday.

The goals were scored by Nicholas D’Costa, Vismay Dawre and two goals by Sanket Mandrekar in the first half. In the second half, the winners netted another four goals which was scored two each by James David and Nicholas D’costa.

In the second match, PCCE Verna downed Goa College of Hospitality and Culinary Education 4-0. In the first half, Aaron Cardozo opened the scoring. Jasmon Dias, Biljoy Figueirdo and Aaron Cardozo were on target for the Verna side.

Swami Vivekananda College, Borim edged past Goa Medical College, Bambolim 2-1. the first half goal was scored by Shoaib Zaidi of Goa Medical College. Stung by the set-back, in the second half, Swami Vivekananda College scored through Suraj Gaonkar and Eshan Gaude which sealed victory.

At Rosary College ground, Navelim, Agnel Institute of Technology and Design, Assagao thumped Ganpat Parsekar College of Education, Harmal 6-0. The goal scorer for Agnel Institute were two from Roger D’souza and a goal each from Mohan Kalangutkar, Mahadev Parwar, Vishal Naik and Myles Coutinho, which were all scored in the first half.

Don Bosco College of Engineering, Fatorda and Vidya Prabodhini College, Porvorim went to a tie breaker with no goals in regulation time. In the resultant tie-breaker, Don Bosco College of Engineering, Fatorda won by a score 5-4.

In the third match of the day, Don Bosco College, Panjim pipped PES’s Ravi Naik College, Farmagudi 1-0. The lone goal of the match was scored by Jason Sequeira.
