12 more succumb to Covid, Goa’s death toll touches 440

The Health Department recorded 12 more deaths due to Covid-19 in the last 48 hours in Goa. With this surge in numbers, the Covid death toll in Goa has touched 440 on Thursday.

Of the 12 deaths, eight occurred at Goa Medical College and Hospital in Bambolim and four at ESI Covid Hospital in Margao. All 12 deceased aged between 50 and 82 years suffered from comorbid conditions which ranged from hypertension to chronic kidney disease and liver cirrhosis. 

Only one patient passed away in less than 24 hours of being admitted at the hospital.

The deceased persons include a 50-year-old man from Curchorem, a 73-year-old man from New Vaddem in Vasco, a 55-year-old man from Candola, a 57-year-old man from Nerul, a 75-year-old woman from Volvoi, a 59-year-old man from Alto-Porvorim, a 63-year-old woman from Chimbel, a 65-year-old man from Hodas, an 82-year-old man from Ponda, a 50-year-old woman from Goa Velha, a 73-year-old man from Ponda and a 76-year-old man from Porvorim.

A total of 524 new cases of Covid-19 were detected in Goa in the last 24 hours. With this, the total confirmed cases have touched 33,942. Of these, 4,977 are active cases and  28,525 have recovered.
