The administration of the second dose of the Covid-19 vaccine to Health Care Workers (HCWs) is struggling to gain pace in Goa with only 300-odd HCWs being administered the second shot in two days across the state.
As per the figures disclosed by the Directorate of Health Services, a total of 13,700 persons have been administered the first dose of the vaccine till Monday.
By Monday evening, 10,387 HCWs received their first dose of the Covishield vaccine in Goa. However, only 333 HCWs have reappeared so far before the authorities to receive the second mandated dose of vaccination. While 18 HCWs received their first dose of the vaccine on Monday, only 22 HCWs returned for their second dose.
The administration of the second dose of vaccination began on February 13 for those beneficiaries who have completed 28 days after receipt of the first dose.
Goa’s Health Department began administering the first dose of the vaccine to FLWs from February 8 onwards. To date, a total of 3,313 FLWs have come forward to receive their first dose of the Covid-19 vaccine with 374 being given the shot on Monday.
At the national level, the cumulative number of HCWs and Front Line Workers (FLWs) vaccinated against Covid-19 in the country has reached nearly 83 lakh. These include 59,88,113 HCWs who have received their first dose, 24,561 HCWs who have received their second dose and 22,72,621 FLWs who have received their first dose.
