14th Finance Commission funds will be utilized by March-end: Minister

Stating that previously 50 per cent of finance commission funds remained unutilised by the panchayats, Panchayats Minister Mauvin Godinho assured that this year funds received under the 14th Finance Commission will be utilised at the maximum for development works by March 2021.

The Minister took a review meeting with all block development officers in the secretariate. The minister reviewed the development works and the funds utilised by the panchayats with the block development officers.

Speaking to the media after the meeting, Minister Godinho said that this year many panchayats have utilised the funds allotted under the 14th Finance Commission. Many panchayats have issued work orders and out of this in most of the cases after completing all preliminary processes of administrative approval, technical cell clearance and tendering has also been done.

...Says panchayats should hold at least 4 physical gram sabhas

PANAJI: Panchayat Minister Mauvin Godinho has informed that circulars have been sent to all the Panchayats across Goa to hold four Gram Sabhas in a year in January, April, July, and October. He said that Panchayats were not holding gram sabhas in physical mode due to Covid-19.

“If panchayats want, they can hold gram sabhas in March. As such in April they will have to hold them,” he added.
