Anti-Narcotics Cell of Goa Police conducted two raids, one at Guirim in Mapusa and the other at St Cruz, within a span of 24 hours arresting three accused persons and seizing drugs worth Rs 2.72 lakhs.
In the first raid, which was conducted on Sunday afternoon at St Cruz-Ihas, accused Prathamesh Naik (23) and Jabeen Valentina Fernandes (21) were arrested for being in illegal possession 625 grams of ganja and perforated sheet containing 20 square papers suspected to be LSD papers weighing 0.202 grams, all worth Rs 1.62 lakh in the international market. The raid was conducted by an ANC team led by LPSI Priyanka Sawant along with two panchas. Further investigation is in progress with PSI Arun Dessai.
In the second raid conducted in the wee hours of Monday by a team led by ANC PSI Pritesh Madgaonkar, accused Mitlesh Das (21) of Camurlim was nabbed with 1.100kg ganja worth approximately Rs 1.1 lakh in the international market. The raid was conducted near the parking lot of St Diogos Church in Guirim, Bardez.
The accused is an electrician by profession and is a native of Samastipur, Bihar. The suspected narcotic substance has been attached under panchanama along with other articles. PSI Rohan Madgaonkar is conducting the further investigation.
All three accused have been booked under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act, 1985. Further investigation is in progress.
