As many as 25 cases of suspected dengue have been reported in Ponda taluka this month, prompting health authorities to step up measures to tackle the situation.
According to sources, cases of suspected dengue have been recorded at the Ponda Health Centre (9), Marcaim Health Centre (9) and Shiroda Health Centre (7).
Sources said some of the suspected dengue patients are working at Verna and Vasco, raising suspicion that these patients may have contracted dengue from outside Ponda taluka.
Health authorities have intensified fumigation drives and awareness campaigns in the affected areas and are also closely monitoring the situation. They have appealed to people to take precautions to prevent the spread of dengue.
