2,700 get jabs at Tika Utsav; positivity rate jumps to 7%

Health Minister Vishwajit Rane took a precautionary booster dose on Sunday even as the State-wide 'Tika Utsav' successfully covered 2,721 people from the eligible bracket of senior citizens, frontline workers and health workers across health centres.

Rane appealed to all the eligible to come forward and take the booster dose as cases are seemingly rising and reports of new variants propping up.

He however cautioned against any knee-jerk reaction to the emerging Covid situation, even as he urged people to mask up and follow Covid appropriate behaviour.

Meanwhile the State reported 41 new Covid-19 cases on Sunday at a worrying positivity rate of 7%.

The daily bulletin said, 581 samples were tested and 41 were reported positive. There were 12 recoveries and the State's active caseload stands at 262. 

State Immunisation Officer, Dr Rajendra Borkar, said 2,721 people took the booster shot at centres across the State, adding that senior citizens will continue to be the focus of the strategy to administer the precautionary dose.

Over 2.80 lakh people in the State are eligible for the booster dose.
