29 touts held in Calangute, fined Rs 5k each

Police arrested 29 touts who were caught targeting tourists in the jurisdiction of Calangute police. The tourism department later fined these touts Rs 5,000 each, thereby collecting a total of Rs 1.45 lakh.

In a bid to enhance public safety and maintain law and order, the police have launched a campaign against touts in North Goa, especially along the coast.

As part of this campaign, Calangute police have been taking action in the last 10 days. The police have launched a campaign to ensure a safer and more pleasant environment for locals as well as tourists and to curb nuisance elements and illegal activities.
