30 new landing centres mooted to boost fisheries, tourism in Goa

Union Fisheries Minister Giriraj Singh disclosed that it has been decided to develop 30 new landing centres for fisheries as well as tourism purposes in the State. 

Road connectivity from jetties and landing centres to the villages will also be ensured. 

"These jetties would be linked to the mainstream by constructing roads," he said, pointing out that Goa already has nine landing jetties, which are used for fishing and tourism purposes.

“Fishing industry can supplement tourism, as a leading economy driver for Goa,” he asserted adding sea-weed culture and ornamental fish culture will be strengthened.
