Govt vehicles could be replaced by electric ones

The first public electric vehicle charging station in Goa was inaugurated on January 28 at the Assembly Complex of the Goa Legislative Secretariat. The EV charging unit is part of the Green Goa Initiative. There has been a rise in the number of vehicles in the state which has led to increase in air pollution. Hence in order to reduce air pollution, it is necessary to switch on to electric vehicles. If not Goa will probably face the same extent of air-pollution as Delhi is now facing. It is understood that the Chief Minister of Delhi, Arvind Kejriwal will replace all government vehicles with E-cars within six months. He has initiated the ‘Switch Delhi’ scheme as a step towards pollution control. The Goa government could follow in the footsteps of the Delhi government and replace all government vehicles with e-vehicles. This will send a strong message to the citizens of the state of the need to switch on to e-vehicles. However, as a first step, electric vehicle charging stations should be installed across the state if we are to follow the Delhi model in fighting air pollution.
