The major project to revamp the intra-State grid power distribution grid by replacing a massive number of 3,000 transformers will be executed within a one-year tenure.
The process for tendering has begun and two Executive Engineers of the Electricity Department have already visited transformer manufacturing facilities of some of the prospective suppliers.
The massive project is being executed with support from the Central government under the latter's Revamped Distribution Sector Scheme (RDSS) under which the State will have to bear 40 per-cent of the cost.
The project when complete will boost the transmission and distribution network and help cut T&D losses which are currently above 12 per-cent.
