A coconut harvester robot, construction material from iron ore tailings and hot cup spillage protector are some of the projects by 37 beneficiaries who have availed the benefit of the Prototyping Scheme of Goa State Innovative Council.
The beneficiaries consist of 26 students, 10 startups and one researcher.
The Scheme Grant In Aid for prototyping technology-based innovative projects/ideas under the Virtual Innovation Register (VIR) make it affordable for students, startups, innovators, research faculty and entrepreneurs who require necessary support in converting ideas into marketable products.
The scheme helps innovators to register their ideas so that it can help to claim over intellectual property right in future.
Under this scheme, an applicant is eligible for a grant of up to Rs 20,000 per project.
The GSIC through its prototyping lab provides support to people in building their prototypes.
The beneficiaries can use the lab facilities setup at Don Bosco College of Engineering, Verna. There are facilities such as 3D printing, Laser Cutting, Soldering Station and other essential tools.
Some of the projects which have got the benefits of Prototyping Scheme include construction material from iron ore tailings, ITC - an IOT that makes exiting air conditioners energy efficient, hot cup spillage protector, health box, development of drone for spraying pesticides on coconut tree and atmospheric water generator.
Other projects include an electronic stethoscope, dronile “ drone missile combo, facemask with a filtration system, design and development of multi-purpose vibration test rig, diabetic retinopathy detection using machine learning, coconut harvester robot and processing technique to detect rice disease.
