Follow Gandhi’s footsteps to oust BJP govt: Cong

VASCO

GPCC Vice President Sankalp Amonkar appealed to people to follow in the footsteps of Mahatma Gandhi to revolt in a united manner and overthrow the BJP government in the State.

Amonkar was addressing a gathering at the Mormugao constituency office in Baina in the presence of Councillors Shraddha Amonkar and Yogita Parsekar, GPCC Mormugao Block president Mahesh Naik and others.

"It is important to take forward Gandhi’s ideology of fighting against corruption, atrocities by revolt and protests through non-violence. Gandhiji always said service to humanity is service to God and that a person tolerating atrocities is as responsible as the person causing atrocities.”

Accusing the BJP government of making lives of Goans miserable by hiking the price of LPG cylinders, fuel, vegetables and groceries, Amonkar said the government has been pushing anti-people projects despite stiff opposition from locals.

“It was only after the Dandi March by Gandhi that the salt laws at the time were broken and on similar lines, people must now unite to fight the present BJP government,” Amonkar said.

Later, the Mormugao block congress volunteers took part in a beach cleaning drive at Baina beach.
