In what could be termed as the loss of the youngest Covid-19 patient in Goa, a three month-old infant from Guirim passed away due to Covid-19 in Goa on Monday.
The baby is among the six people whose demise was recorded by the Health Department in its mortality bulletin on Tuesday.
With this, the Covid death toll of the state stands at 555.
Shockingly, the baby boy, who was aged two months and 25 days, did not suffer from any prior co-morbid conditions.
Paediatric inflammatory multi-system disease and Covid-19 were the antecedent causes while the immediate causes were myocardial dysfunction and cardiogenic shock.
The child was admitted at Goa Medical College and Hospital in Bambolim on October 14.
The other deceased persons include a 79 year-old man from Aquem, a 76 year-old woman from Quepem, a 70 year-old man from Vagator, a 72 year-old woman from Mapusa and an 82 year-old woman from Sao Jose De Areal.
One of the patients was declared dead on arrival at Hospicio Hospital.
Meanwhile, a total of 285 persons tested positive for the infection on Tuesday. The positivity rate dropped yet again to 18.97 per cent owing to the rise in testing. The Health Department tested 1,502 samples on Tuesday, a marked rise from Monday.
