448 to contest from 17 VPs in Pernem

A total of 448 candidates will contest elections in 17 panchayats across Pernem taluka, after 26 contestants withdrew their applications on Wednesday.

The candidates who withdrew were in Korgao (2), Morjim (4), Keri (5), Arambol (4), Paliem (5), Mandrem (4) and Chopdem-Agarwada (2).

Four contestants who have been elected unopposed are Hemant Chopadekar (Chopdem), Prarthana Mote (Torse), Bernard Fernandes (Arambol) and Disha Haldankar (Ibrampur).
