The five km radius of the Margao KTC bus stand and the ONGC, Betul, which will be visited by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on February 6 has been declared as red zone/no fly zone in South Goa district with effect from February 6-9.
Accordingly, South Goa district Magistrate has prohibited aerial photography in any form by use of drone cameras, flying balloons or flying balloons within five km radius around ONGC, Betul and within five km radius of the KTC bus stand, Margao under section 144 of the Cr P C.
The order, however, shall not apply to Police Personnel and other Government officials/agencies if using the drone purely in connection with their officials duties, subject to the following conditions: That the Police Personnel and other Government officials shall be in their service uniform, and shall carry their identity cards and authorization cards authorizing them to use the drone in connection with their officials duties, issued by the Competent Authority.
That the exemption is applicable in relation to the above said personnel only when they are on official duty and to other agencies/entities who are granted specific NOC/permission by this office subject to compliance of the guidelines and Drone Rules 2021 governing the same.
The district Magistrate, Asvin Chandru has imposed the restriction on the aerial photography or videography in any form such as by use of drone cameras, flying balloons, etc. as a measure to beef up security in view of the India Energy Week 2024 scheduled at Betul from February 6-9 and the VVIP meeting at the KTC bus stand Margao on February 6.
Hence, the notification stated there is sufficient ground for proceeding under section 144 of the Criminal Procedure Code, 1973, to prevent aerial photography and aerial videography or videography in any form such as by use of drone cameras, flying balloons, etc.;
