During the Diwali weekend, lifeguards rescued 51 people from drowning at beaches across Goa. At Patnem Beach, lifeguards prevented a 17-year-old boy from Uttar Pradesh from attempting suicide. He had walked into deep water but was safely brought back to shore.
At Majorda Beach, lifeguards rescued a water sports operator after his boat capsized due to sudden changes in the weather. At Baga Beach, they rescued several people, including five women caught in a rip current and five friends who were struggling to get back to shore. One man had difficulty breathing and received medical assistance before being taken to hospital.
Calangute Beach saw two rescues involving three swimmers from Karnataka and three men from Maharashtra. Four other men from Nagpur and Delhi were also saved from a rip current.
In addition to these rescues, lifeguards found four missing children at Baga and Calangute beaches and safely returned them to their families.
