In another decision, the Cabinet has granted its nod for another six months extension for off-shore casnios to operate in the Mandovi river.
This is an issue that needs cabinet approval every six months after the State government had made it mandatory for casinos through amendments in the licence conditions to operate “off-shore” and not in the navigation channel of the Mandovi river.
The casino operators had challenged the government fiat in the High Court following which the government was directed to provide alternative off-shore sites for them while in the interim permitting them to operate in the Mandovi by reviewing the situation every six months.
