Both the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) MLAs, Venzy Viegas and Cruz Silva, boycotted the event of the Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla, and cited the Centre's indifference to the protest by India's star wrestlers who were protesting against sexual harrassment by their Federation's boss.
The two AAP MLAs also cited the continuing violence and the government's lame intervention in Manipur where Catholic churches have been burnt down, for their staying away from the event.
Viegas said, the government at the Centre has miserably failed to act on pressing issues like the protest by Olympian and champion wrestlers against sexual harassment by the BJP MP who headed the Federation.
He also said, that the violence in Manipur where churches have been targeted is another reason they boycotted Birla's address in protest.
