PANAJI
Authorities demolished a storeyd structure located midway along St Inez to Altinho slope late Saturday night after the abandoned edifice began collapsing.
The demolition took a couple of hours and was ordered by North Goa Collector Sneha Gite after residents in the vicinity were evacuated.
The action was taken after part of the structure collapsed earlier in the evening around 5 pm. Nearby residents were in panic mode for nearly an hour before the authorities swung into action.
Corporation of the City of Panaji (CCP) Mayor Rohit Monserrate, Revenue Minister Atanasio (Babush) Monserrate and officials were present at the site when the demolition happened.
