Acknowledging the genuine problems of the farmers, Aldona MLA Carlos Ferreira said that the work on the damaged door of the sluice gate will be taken on top priority so that the farmers can get opportunity to cultivate the fields.
Ferreira also said that efforts will be made to set up a full-fledged khazan committee in the area so that the maintenance of the sluice gate and other issues in the area can be taken up with the committee.
“As a temporary solution we will replace the broken door of the sluice gate. The work will be taken on priority while the other works on the sluice gate can be taken up after the rains,” Ferreira said.
He appreciated the enthusiasm among the farmers to cultivate their land and vowed to help them in their hour of need.
“The committee which looks after the sluice gate has become non-functional. I will request the mamlatdar to hold an election to set up a new committee in the area. But we cannot wait till then. We will take up the work of repairing the door on priority,” he said.
The Aldona MLA called the WRD engineer and jointly conducted an inspection at the site on Sunday.
