Tourism Minister Rohan Khaunte on Monday followed the trend set by his Cabinet colleague Vishwajit Rane of overturning decisions of predecessors and announced that all NOCs granted to water sports industry are suspended and process of granting permissions also frozen, pending a review.
"We have currently suspended and decided to freeze the process of granting permissions for water sport activities across Goa owing to irregularities involved in the processes," Khaunte said on the sidelines of the event to launch online services.
He said, water sports activity operators will have to first take permissions from the Tourism Department and later from the Captain of Ports.
This decision to overturn the processes of granting permissions to the water sports operators during the term of the previous government by Khaunte resonates with similar action of cancelling decisions in the Town and Country Planning department by Rane.
Rane had made sweeping changes in the TCP suspending ODPs of three planning areas and wholesomely scrapping the processes of formulating plans for all other Planning areas of the State, citing alleged irregularities.
