As the comorbidity cases in Covid patients are seen to be more vulnerable to the disease, the medical fraternity is trying to save such patients through various measures.
In a first such case in Goa, the government run North Goa District Hospital (NGDH) at Mapusa administered the first dose of Casirivimab and Imdevimab Antibody Cocktail on a 81-year-old Covid-19 positive patient who is a cancer survivor with multiple comorbidities including diabetes, hypertension, ischaemic heart disease and post mastectomy.
“NGDH is the first government hospital in the State to do so,” informed the Health minister and added, “The antibody cocktail drug will benefit and prevent further progression of the disease and reduce mortality.”
It is to be noted that the drug majors Roche India and Cipla had last week announced the launch of Roche’s Antibody Cocktail in India priced at Rs 59,750 per dose for the treatment of mild to moderate Covid-19 in patients who are at high risk.
