On the backdrop of the Shivling discovered in the premises of Gyanvapi mosque at Varanasi, and the statement by Power Minister Sudin Dhavalikar that similar Shivlings could also be found in religious places in the coastal State of Goa, Subhash Phaldesai, Archaeology minister has assured to look into those heritage places or spots and work on their restoration after discussing with the experts and historians.
“If Sudin Dhavalikar comes out with the information of any such heritage place in the State, the government will take note of it, and discuss with experts and historians to extract more details to restore them,” said the archaeology minister. Interestingly, Dhavalikar denied making the Gyanvapi comment in his byte after the cabinet.
It is to be noted that a day before Dhavalikar had spoken to the media that the Archaeological Survey (of India) (ASI) department has to work in that regard.” Adding further the power minister had said, “I personally feel that there could be such Shivlings at the sites, where the temples were demolished. Shivlings may be there somewhere in Goa and could be found definitely at such sites.”
The minister made the remark when some media persons asked him whether Shivlings could be found in Goa’s religious sites.
