Assagao demolition: SDPOs supervised inquiry into alleged land grab

PANAJI
The issue surrounding the partially demolished house at Agassao was always known to the police even before a JCB was used last Saturday.

A complaint of alleged land grabbing was filed by the accused Pooja Sharma wherein SDPOs Jivba Dalvi and Sandesh Chodankar supervised an inquiry as the SIT Land Grab transferred the case back to the police station, observing it did not warrant an SIT probe.

Suspended PI Prashal Desai stated that the Agarwadekar family was summoned to the police station during Dalvi’s tenure, and he was directed to hold an inquiry. “Accordingly, an inquiry was conducted wherein it was revealed Pradeep Agarwadekar along with his wife, two daughters and son was residing at the said address. SDPO Dalvi was informed about it and he called the Agarwadekar family to his office in Mapusa. The meeting was held in the presence of Agarwadekar’s lawyer Adv Prasad Dessai,” the PI said, in his statement to the Chief Secretary.

While summons were issued numerous times, Sandesh Chodankar took charge as SDPO Mapusa and followed up on the inquiry. The family eventually refused to go to the SDPO Mapusa office.

The PI along with SDPO Chodankar had even attended a meeting with the DGP Jaspal Singh, who discussed the purchase of the property by Pooja Sharma and directed them to assist her in vacating the house.
