Ayodhya consecration: Non-veg, alcohol off-limits in Cumbarjua

OLD GOA
In an interesting decision, the Cumbarjua panchayat has issued a public notice prohibiting the sale of mutton, chicken, fish, Chinese items and alcohol in the village on January 22, on the occasion of the inauguration of Ram Mandir at Ayodhya.

In the notice signed by Sarpanch Nandakumar Shet, it has been pointed out that on that day, a grand celebration will be organised in the Shree Ram Mandir in the village, due to which the panchayat has asked those selling such items in the village to close down their businesses.

“There will be ban on the sale of mutton, chicken and fish as well as country or foreign liquor in the village. Those selling mutton, chicken, fish, Chinese items or selling liquor should shut down their business. You are requested to take cognisance of the notice and cooperate in the celebration of Shree Ram Utsav,” the notice, issued in the vernacular language, reads.

When contacted, Sarpanch Nandakumar Shet informed that the ban on sale of non-vegetarian as well as alcohol will be effective in the village for the entire day of January 22 due to the celebration of Shree Ram Utsav.
