The Crime Branch, led by North Goa SP Nidhin Valsan, has made a formal request to adjourn the ongoing hearing in the Banastarim accident case. Their argument is centered around the fact that Meghna's statement is currently being recorded before the Magistrate today, and the statements of two additional witnesses are scheduled for recording on Wednesday. This request has been granted by the High Court, resulting in the hearing being rescheduled for Thursday.
Additionally the bail application of Paresh Sawardekar the other accused has been adjourned for Thursday.
In response to the Banastarim drunk driving incident, the Crime Branch had previously established a nine-member investigative team, with the Deputy Superintendent of Police (DySP) overseeing it along with three police inspectors. PI Narayan Chimulkar was designated as the lead investigator for this case. Additionally, Superintendent of Police (SP) Nidhin Valsan of the Crime Branch stated that the team would compile a progress report on the case every two weeks and submit it for his review.
Shortly after the transfer of the Banastarim drunk driving case from the Mardol police station to the Crime Branch for investigation, SP Nidhin Valsan, accompanied by his team, visited the accident scene to gather crucial evidence. They also conducted a visit to Khandepar as part of their investigative efforts.
