Governor of Bihar Rajendra Arlekar stated that there should be no doubt about whether Shivaji Maharaj is considered a god or not.
"Why should anyone have doubts whether Shivaji Maharaj was god or not. People who don't have love for the nation make such statements, every national hero is god to us," said Arlekar at an event.
Fr Bolmax Pereira, the parish priest of Chicalim, was booked under Section 295 of the Indian Penal Code for defiling a place of worship and Section 504 for intentionally insulting with the intent to provoke a breach of peace, after he was accused of an objectionable statement.
Even though Fr Pereira had offered an apology, the Shiv Premis and other activists had demanded his arrest.
