The Colva police has arrested a 22-year-old native of Belagavi on the charges of kidnapping and rape of a minor girl.
The accused Prashant Bastavadkar, a resident of Nandghad, Khanapur, Belagavi has been arrested under sections 354, 363, 376, 383, 506(ii), 323, 51 of the IPC and under the provisions of the Goa Children Act and the POCSO Act 2012 upon the complaint file by the victim’s father, residing at Old Market, Margao.
In his complaint, the father alleged that the accused kidnapped his minor daughter, aged 17 years, from their lawful guardianship several times from their house at Khanapur, Belagavi and their house at Old Market Margao, and molested her and had forcible sexual intercourse with the minor girl in open places at Khanapur, Belagavi and Betalbatim on several occasions, thereby committing rape.
He further alleged that the accused also clicked nude/obscene photographs of his minor daughter and threatened to make them viral on social media and demanded /attempted to extort money from the complainant's minor daughter on the pretext of deleting her nude photos.
The Colva police nabbed the accused with the help of call monitoring cell South Goa after the men in uniform kept surveillance on the accused. Later, with prior permission from SDPO Margao and SP South, a team was sent to Khanapur-Karnataka along with complainant and with help of local police of Nandgad Police Station detained accused person and brought him at Colva Police Station and placed him under arrest.
