Benchmarks set by Centre in 18 civic services achieved, claims CCP

PANAJI
The capital city may be in a mess owing to the ongoing 'smart city' work but its civic authority -- the Corporation of the City of Panaji (CCP) -- is claiming that it has already achieved the benchmarks set by the Union Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs (MoHUA) for 18 of the 30 civic services as of 2022-23.

In a press release, CCP also said that it has set itself a target to achieve the benchmark in five more services by March 31 this year.

CCP said it has met or even surpassed the MoHUA set benchmarks in services such as coverage of water supply connections, per capita supply of water, coverage of toilets, efficiency in the redressal of customer complaints, household-level coverage of solid waste management services, efficiency in collection and segregation of municipal solid waste and even coverage of the stormwater drainage network.

Another claim made by the CCP is that it has achieved the benchmark of 0 % incidences of waterlogging and flooding, an area where the civic body has often been the target of intense criticism.
