BJP State President Sadanand Shet Tanavade distanced himself from the ongoing Bhutani project controversy, stating that an inquiry should be conducted into who granted permissions for the project.
"Permissions for the Bhutani project were granted by whom and under what circumstances needs to be found out. It wouldn't be appropriate for me to comment further," Tanavade, also Rajya Sabha MP, said on Tuesday. "I won't comment on the Bhutani project as the government and the TCP Minister have already issued a show-cause notice to the concerned parties," he added.
Chief Minister Pramod Sawant had recently told the media expressing the government's opposition to projects that go against the wishes of the people.
"I have told the TCP Minister to revoke the permissions granted to the Bhutani project if they were not issued properly. We don’t want projects that are against the wishes of Goans," he had said. The firm was subsequently issued notices amid allegations of illegal activities.
Sawant further stated that files related to such mega projects should be brought to him for approval being the chairperson of the steering committee and called for inter-departmental coordination on such matters.
Meanwhile, Panchayat Minister Mauvin Godinho on Tuesday met with BJP workers and the general public.
"We want to meet the people and listen to their grievances. It is the collective responsibility of all ministers to address public concerns. Therefore, each Tuesday, one minister will be available at the BJP head office to hear the public, and every Wednesday, all ministers will be available at the Secretariat unless they have urgent commitments. This is a party decision and we are committed to it. We aim for more public interaction," he told the media after the interaction.
Last week, the CM directed that one minister should be available at the BJP headquarters every Tuesday to meet the public.
