BJP defends Rane amid Cong 'job-for-cash' scam claim

Patkar submits documents, audio clip

PANAJI

A day after Health Minister Vishwajit Rane urged Director General of Police to conduct an inquiry into the jobs-for-cash allegations levelled by Goa Pradesh Congress Committee (GPCC) President Amit Patkar, the later has submitted the documents and related audio clip to the top cop.

Patkar on Monday submitted the documents and an audio recording as evidence to police for investigation into the allegations of job scam in connection with Health department.

The audio clip, which includes a conversation with Deepashri Sawant ” who has been arrested in connection with the case ” was part of the submission.

Patkar claimed that following the GPCC press conference, various BJP officials and ministers appeared disturbed by the revelations and quickly moved to defend their position. He emphasized that the Congress Party is demanding an impartial investigation into the alleged wrongdoing.

In response, the BJP accused Congress of using forged documents to make false claims against Minister Rane.

BJP spokesperson Yatin Naik said that the Congress made serious allegations using documents they acknowledged could be fake, raising doubts about their credibility and intentions.

Naik also confirmed that Minister Rane had swiftly acted on the accusations, sending emails to the Cybercrime PI and the Director General of Police on November 9, 2024, requesting an investigation into the origins of the documents and audio.

Naik defended Minister Rane’s performance-driven approach and called on the opposition to base its claims on verified evidence, rather than unsubstantiated accusations.
