Stating that Chief Minister Pramod Sawant is leading a delegation to the Home Minister to address the matter of political reservations for the ST community, leaders of the ruling BJP have raised concerns about the deadline imposed by the Mission Political Reservations for Scheduled Tribes on the government to resolve the issue within seven days.
Speaking to the media, BJP ST leader Anthony Barbosa expressed confusion as to why the Mission continues to impose deadlines when the Chief Minister is sincerely working towards fulfilling the longstanding demand of the ST community for political reservations.
"The CM recently met with Union Tribal Minister Arjun Munda to discuss the issue, with the president of Mission Political Reservations also part of the delegation. Despite the CM’s efforts, the Mission is imposing deadlines on the government to meet the demand or face an election boycott," Barbosa remarked.
Barbosa further mentioned that Sawant is leading a delegation to Delhi on Friday and appealed to the ST community to place their trust in the Chief Minister to address their longstanding issue.
Meanwhile, BJP ST Morcha president Prabhakar Gaonkar urged members of the ST community not to be swayed by the statements made by the Mission Political Reservations. He expressed confidence that the meeting with Union Home Minister Amit Shah arranged by the Chief Minister will resolve the issue.
