Amid growing speculation over BJP contesting the 2027 general assembly elections without allies, Chief Minister Pramod Sawant on Wednesday reiterated that the BJP must win at least 27 seats in the next polls.
Addressing the North Goa karyakarta sammelan, Sawant said the party needs to get over 52 per cent of the total vote share to achieve this goal. “In the 2027 Assembly polls, we need to elect 27 or more BJP candidates. To achieve this, we require at least 52 per cent of the votes,” he said.
He further urged party workers to ensure a focused and systematic approach for an easy victory. “Our karyakartas must stay focused, highlight our 10-year achievements and showcase the important decisions taken by both the Central and State BJP governments across all sectors,” Sawant added.
The remarks come at a time when BJP and its ally MGP appear strained particularly after the Dhavalikar brothers met with the BJP high command in Delhi.
The CM recently publicly asserted BJP’s claim over the Priol constituency, stating that alliance partners “must accept this” or “should break away”. Earlier, he claimed that the BJP would wrest Mandrem seat stating that “lotus will bloom in Mandrem” in the next election. The two seats are currently held by the BJP and MGP respectively. Both parties have publicly denied any rift.
